The Penn State Cyberscience Cluster Hire for year 1 has been completed

Multiple Faculty Appointments in Computation– and Data–enabled Science and Engineering

Penn State is embarking on a transformative cluster hiring initiative in cyberscience – computation- and data-enabled science and engineering – to lead through cyber-enabled innovation in interdisciplinary research. This cross-college endeavor will coordinate multiple faculty appointments to develop new functional capabilities centered on data, models and simulation for deeper insights into the critical problems in science and engineering.

We seek outstanding faculty who can work across disciplines and in a team to advance algorithms, software and theory to exploit "Big Data" and “Big Simulations” for scientific discovery and engineering design in a variety of disciplines.

Cyberscience is fundamentally changing the way in which research is being performed and funded. Our goal is to appoint outstanding faculty who will rapidly move Penn State into the spotlight by bringing new cyberscience capabilities to bear around existing strengths. We seek exceptional applicants who can advance data- and computation-intensive methodology and systems with a demonstrated commitment to participating in interdisciplinary research.

We plan to make 12 tenure-track appointments at all levels from Assistant and Associate Professors through Full Professors and Endowed Chairs. We anticipate that many candidates will have joint appointments across departments and colleges. These positions feature outstanding research space, competitive start-up packages and state-of-the-art shared instrumentation for computation- and data-enabled research.
